There is no doubt about something: Ghent is a beautiful and spectacular city. From there, there are many comments that come to mind.

I have visited Ghent four times and it captivated me since the first of them. Arrived in the city after visiting Witches and with the idea - for what everyone had told me - that I would not like it as much as that city-town with a bad name. The surprise was capital: I liked Ghent a lot more than Bruges, which was complicated.

Both on that visit and on the other two that came later, I dedicated myself to exploring the most medieval, stately, imperial, historical and architectural Ghent. It is true that you don't finish that part in a couple of days, but in two or three weekend trips. Therefore, On this occasion I wanted to explore alternative plans to do in Ghent. And I found several treasures.

Here you have some ideal plans to make on a second visit to the city (or even first, depending on your tastes and the time you have available in it):

Take the urban art tour in Ghent

If you walk through the streets of the historic center of Ghent, next to the canal and the bridge of San Miguel, you can see the art of centuries in its monuments. Churches, old guild houses of different styles and periods, bridges, the Castle of the Counts, the Cathedral of San Bavón, etc.

But If you leave the beaten track, you will see another type of art occupy the city streets.

Ghent is a real giant mural. When you walk through its multi-ethnic neighborhoods, do not look at the ground, because you will be missing authentic works of art. Urban artists - locals, Belgians and other countries - have left their colorful mark on the facades of the Ghent buildings. Some are homes, other old factories, other office buildings ... It doesn't matter, art does not have a concrete canvas.
