Travel camping in Australia

Australia is a great place. I did not hesitate to include it in the itinerary of my trip around the world in a year, and I was really very satisfied with the decision. The Anglo-Saxon culture attracts me and I find it very interesting already in itself, so it was a joy to mix with her again after 4 months of traveling through Asian countries; also the addition of doing it in a warm and sunny place made me particularly happy.

Australia is a country where it is very easy to move; the infrastructures are very good and there are many facilities for backpackers and backpackers. Everywhere you go you will find a cheap hostel to stay in, but I still recommend that you consider the option of going from camping in Australia.

Preparing the backpack for a long trip I decided to add a tent that I bought in Dublin for a very cheap price. The contraption was very cheap, a fact that encouraged me to acquire it thinking that if it was broken or lost it would not be a great loss, while if the champion endured all the trajín that awaited him could be quite useful and, who knows, maybe even save me from some trouble.

Finally I did not end up pulling camping as much as at first I thought I would. The facilities that the traveler is around the world are surprising, so that in most cases the comfort of a room in a pension or a cheap hotel end up winning the camping trip with its corresponding assemble and disassemble the tent.

If I remember correctly I camped in Taupo (New Zealand), Bariloche (Argentina), Calafate (near the glaciers of the Argentine Patagonia) and in several places of Australia, a phenomenal country to go camping.

As you can see, it was not so many times that I used the tent, but when I did I enjoyed it very much. On the other hand, taking her with me always gave me the option to camp; after all it was light and easy to attach to the backpack.

Going back to camping in Australia, I keep a special memory of two campsites in particular: Harvey bay, locality located in the state of Queensland, Y Byron bay, located a little further south in the state of New south wales. Both are located on the east coast of the country.

In Harvey bay There are 3 campsites that are located right in front of the beach. At night I slept literally listening to the coming and going of the waves, and in the morning the first thing I did when I woke up was to leave the tent, walk about ten meters and hit a dip. Here you have a link with addresses and telephone numbers in case you decide to study the option. Remember that camping will usually be cheaper than any other type of accommodation and will help you save some money by giving your tight budget a joy.

In Byron bay There are also a good number of options to dismantle the tent. I personally ended up camping in probably the most camping hippie and with greater number of smoke per square meter that exists in Australia. I have to say I had a great time (as you can imagine) and met a lot of people, whether they were Australians or anywhere in the world like you or me.

Byron Bay was also where I decided to travel with a rental car to Nimbin, a small town that became a residence for the community hippie back in the 70s. Today there are still some determined to ignore the passage of time and happy to continue living among clouds of marijuana and with an eternal smile drawn on their faces; yes, with the look more lost than an octopus in a garage. Anyway, that the world is free (is it?) And each one chooses his way and the way of life that makes him happier.

Austalia, without any doubt, for me, the best country in the world to go camping.

P.D: Do not be fooled by the header photo in which you can see Róisín, my beautiful and tireless travel companion. Although it looks very pretty and seems very predisposed to set up the tent, here a server was the one who always ended up fighting with the ropes and with the nails to keep on standing the probably only tent bought in Lidl that has given the Around the World.
