The colors of Masséna square in Nice

Nice conversation. The Masséna square statues

Around it the facades of the buildings show a red color that is enhanced during the hot summer days and a series of bronze statues rise to the sky. These sculptures make up a work called Nice conversation and was made by the artist Jaume Plensa.

Next to Masséna Square we find the extensive Gardens of Alberto I and not far away is the famous Rhul caisno where so many celebrities have contributed by the red or black numeral.

We go through the old part from the city following rue Saint François de Paule. The buildings that we can see today still date from the 17th and 18th centuries and among the main monuments we can see the Opera, the Chapel of Mercy or the church of Saint François de Paule.

If you are looking for a good atmosphere you will find it in the cours Saléya. It is a street full of bars, terraces, restaurants and shops. Every morning a flower market rises abroad although you will not only find flowers but fruits and vegetables. If you go to number 1 of the same street you can see the house where the painter Matisse lived for a good time.
